Mayors Healthy Living Challenge kicks off on April 3, 2016

The 2016 Wellness Challenge is a free, town-wide challenge for Bergenfield residents age 18 and older. The Challenge is an 8-week program which includes free workshops, exercise class & fitness trials; weekly weigh-ins; health & fitness guidance; and raffles & prizes.

Kick Off: April 3, 2016, 1:00pm to 2:30pm

Green Fair on April 15, 2016 seeking vendors

The Borough of Bergenfield and Bergenfield High School are hosting a Green Fair on Friday, April 15, 2016 in the Bergenfield High School at 80 South Prospect Avenue, Bergenfield, NJ. The event will run from 9 am to 1 pm and there is no cost to participants. Setup will begin at 8 am.

The purpose for the fair is to raise awareness of the environmental activities that are part of our everyday lives and to recognize those businesses and organizations that contribute to improving the environment. The event will provide an opportunity for businesses and organizations to share their environmental accomplishments.

We ask that you join us at the Green Fair. We will provide a table for your setup. You can tell your story and answer question about what you are doing in your business or organization, what you are buying and /or what you selling. Whatever your story, it will add value to the event.

This Green Fair will assist the Borough of Bergenfield and Bergenfield High School to earn points toward Sustainable Jersey Certification. The event will be managed and coordinated by an Eagle Scout candidate as a service project for both the town and school. Please be advised that Borough Hall will be closed on Friday, February 12th and Monday, February 15th, 2016.

Notice to dog and cat owners from the Health Department

Borough HallThe Bergenfield Health Department would like to remind dog/cat owners that current dog/cat licenses expired on December 31st. As of February 1, 2016 a $5 late fee has been added to the normal licensing charge. If you need an updated rabies vaccine, the Bergen County animal shelter located at 100 United Lane, Teterboro, NJ is offering free vaccine for dogs and cats on Thursday, February 11th, 2016 between 3:00-6:00pm.

Also, the New Milford Health Dept. is offering free rabies vaccines from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Department of Public Works building, 930 Columbia Street.

Licenses can be renewed in person or by mail. If by mail make sure the late fee has been added to your check and you enclose a copy of any rabies update.

ADVISORY: Snow Emergency Lifted

The snow emergency declared on January 23, 2016 was lifted on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Overnight parking within the Borough will still be prohibited. Please be courteous and try to park on one side of the street only to allow for free passage of emergency and non-emergency vehicles. Please remember to remove ice and snow from vehicles before traveling and do not shovel snow into the roadways.
